Help! I just got my first A8, 2016 with the 3.0 Litre V-6 engine. I'm used to driving MB "S" class cars, although I've only owned the A8 a short time, it seems to me that the Audi is a better engineered automobile, It seems to me Audi spends more time fine tuning the engineering of this car than MB does just adding gee-haws to their S class, of course I understand everyone likes something different, but the A8 is a very well engineered car.
My question may seem remedial but here goes as I've asked two different mechanics and have gotten two different answers.
My A8 has the 3.0 Litre engine, my question is, how much engine oil in quarts or liters does my engine (the CREC version) hold. I've been told 7.0 quarts and 6.3 quarts, which one is tight. Thanks for the help.

It's possible your different answers are because there are two 3.0 V6 engines for the A8. The diesel and the gas engine, and I would bet that accounts for the difference. Your owner's manual should state basic information, such as oil capacity, definitively.

The owners manual doesn't give the engine's oil capacity.

Look again. It does. Not the section on oil checking. Back toward the end under Technical Data/Capacities. All the motors are there.

I have a 2016 A8L with a 3.0 litre engine. I checked the section that you are referring to and it does not give the oil capacities of any of the engines. There is a paragraph right after the section you refer to that tells the owner to refer to a very long web-site address if you want that information. I know it seems hard to believe, I can hardly believe it myself but call Audi or your local dealer and they'll tell you the same thing. Thanks for the help anyways.

(As an FYI or sometimes workaround, you can also view most any manual online for a recent Audi if you get a valid VIN, like off an Autotrader ad or something similar)

If you look at the same page from my 2016 A8L Owners Manual you will notice that Audi has now omitted the oil capacity amount from their engine listing. I wonder why.

That is a mystery. At least you got your answer, though.
