Can't say I care for it, looks like a cheaper car to me. I hadn't seen it before, thanks for sharing.

You need to see it in person. Pictures do not do it justice. Saw a black S8 with Black Optic today and it was quite stunning.

It's beautiful. Exactly how it always should have been on the S8. It should be standard on all S models.

I'm a little torn - on one hand it makes the s8 look sportier but on the other hand the black optics have a slimming effect that makes the car look smaller - and at a glance looks like an a6 or a4 with trim blacked out

From seeing it in person I don't agree. Maybe if you're comparing pictures...

+1 generally. You do need to see anything like this in person, at least if buying or ordering one. I found in looking at S8's last year with its then only one type of brighter trim available that car and stance looked pretty different just depending on color. Thus the light ones showed the grill and particularly lower intakes where cruise sensors now are (the "foglight area") a lot more. On some of the darker ones that all gets virtually lost w/ lack of real contrasts.

I used to dismiss white for example pretty easily, but saw a while one on dealer lot that looked pretty good to me. Obviously the darker pieces of the optics package take it another notch, depending on whether you want it to either blend in and have maybe a little more sinister look, or on a lighter car to have it contrast on some of the pieces yet more. FWIW on my Daytona Grey, while I like the color the overall look is a bit of a slab on the sides, more so w/ the original wheels that also had the gunmetal type finish. Could use something to punch it up slightly for my tastes.
