There is no way that the A8 with normally aspirated 4.2 will hit 180.

The RS6 with 4.2, 5 valve, turbo, can do that, but the RS6 has 120 hp or so more power.

I know Mister Bally took his 2004 A8L to Bonneville with nothing but a tune disabling the limiter and achieved over 170mph. Knowing that, I don't doubt the more powerful 2011 with a better transmission can achieve 180mph or better.

not buying that.....at that speed you need "road horsepower" and the NA V8 can't do it. 2004 a8L had NA 4.2 rated at what? 320 hp?

Interesting, the picture shows the gear selection 5th gear (out of 6), and pinned speedometer at 170. Not believing it. Sorry.

He's one of the most respected members of the D3 board. I wasn't there so I can't "vouch" for it, but you're welcome to ask him directly.

Well a buck thirty two comes pretty easily for the 4.2 NA. Dang that limiter!!!

I don't think 170-180 would be too hard at all. Sure seems like the 8 slips thru the air pretty easily.

Here we are just cruising along the interstate on our last trip out west at 132 MPH with no effort at all.

sidebar - I tried scrolling through the menu options on the steering wheel....but couldn't find a digital speedo. Can you shed light as to how you get that displayed on your dash?
