I remember reading your post on this a while back. I drove the newer A8 from 2015 plus and they are very quiet and smooth. At this time I have 115k on the 2012 A8 and i will go for the newer generation A8 when it comes out and order one in 1-2 years from now.

Brought the 8 into the dealer and sure enough Audi corporate opened a ticket and had the dealer order new down tubes to be installed. Hope this remedies the vibration / shudder issue

I test drove a 2015 s8 today and sure enough there is the vibration at 3000 rpm! Amazing they all haven't been fixed yet. I'm still a bit confused on this issue. The TSB says it's an engine mount sensor issue and all you guys say it's a down pipe issue and the mount issue fixes nothing, correct. Still no TSB that says it's a down pipe issue? The car I'm looking at is a beauty with 16,000 miles, cpo as well. Might put in a bid contingent on them fixing the vibration. Thanks. Regards. Ned.

The TSB states that if the vibration doesn't go away after the module re-programming that the tech should then open a TAC ticket. That is when they step in and replace the down pipes. I will be taking my 2013 in for this soon. I'm hoping the re-programming fixes it but from what I've read here it seems that if your car has the vibration it almost always ends up in a new set of down pipes as the final fix.

A8 4.0 vibration
Just picked up my certified 2013 A8L and immediately noticed the vibration. The dealer took it back, did all the upgrades with the engine mounts etc, but eventually cured it by changing the down pipes. Why this cured it I didn't want to ask. Now runs smooth at any revs on any cylinder configuration.
