I still think I would have it fixed properly with the correct parts.

Mine is under warranty so it's being fixed for free. If it were out of warranty I think I would look into APR down pipes.

Default New weighted downpipes

I too have the 1000RPM and 3000RPM vibration on my 2013 S8. The dealer did the engine mount software update--which didn't really help--and also informed me that a more recent update to the TSB involves replacing the downpipes with ones that have a weight on them. The weight(s), I assume, will change their resonance frequency to be outside of the engine's normal operating range. The replacement will be covered under (Canadian) warranty. The downpipes are on order.

Just left my dealer...they were actually pretty good. I brought the TSB with me and the tech thanked me for taking the time to do "the right research" and bring in the information. I was worried he would be annoyed. He got in the car with me and we revved to 1k and 3k...he goes, yep, I recall this issue...we will order the new down pipes and get you on your way. They said the pipes should be in on Jan 20th and they will replace on the 23rd. They are also replacing my cup holder cover and updating the MMI.....said it would only take the day! Will be nice to get this resolved and get to just enjoying the car. Thanks to this forum for all the knowledge.

Dropped off my CPO A8 to my dealer yesterday for this same issue. I am still confused how the car passed the CPO certification without knowing the car had this issue. I hope to hear from them today.

I had an out of body experience at a stop light when the car started shaking like a freight train was passing by. I imagine it must have been revving at 1000 rpm because it was a cold morning.
I took the car to the dealer, who promptly said there is no problem, everything checks out. I had to throuw a tantrum and tell them about the SB to take me seriously. They kept the car for a day, and told me that they did see a problem, reprogrammed the mounts, and are awaiting some exhaust part with weights (is it the same as down pipes?). I am waiting for the parts to come in.
Unfortunately, I had to take the car in twice to sort out the suspension squeak issue as well. I am finding the service not up to par to my experience with BMW and Lexus. But now the service manager and I have a good relationship. As they say, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
