I got my D4 at 40, I also was a little concerned that it may be a bit too "mature" for me. I solved the problem by getting a SWB, it's perfect. The A8L feels just a little too much like a road boat compared to the SWB in my opinion.

I got my first A8 at 31, did not even cross my mind I was "too young" I am 48 now so getting closer to the A8 stats.

I'm younger than the demographic as well. In fact one of my older former colleagues who had an S4 tried to talk me out of the A8. I test drove the A6 and A7 but didn't like them nearly as much as the A8. Tried BMW and Lexus as well.

Your question is smart - and I understand why you ask. The A8 personality does not lay on the outside, even driving the car it takes some miles to get in touch with its core values. The three cars you mention is top cars. With the Q7 you are familiar with the high and robust Audi quality. I agree the Cayenne is the "youngest" - and very capable in all ways, and the most agile SUV on sale. Fabulous steering, gearbox,engine - and very quiet inside. The A8 is a kind of "next level" in its sleek wrapping, filled with high-tech and concise driving abilities - it`s no nonsens - German efficiency. The S6 is more lively, feels more compact and also "younger". If you can deal with the slightliy anonymous but innovative and classy image - you will love the car. Just read all the positive feedback on this car. A8 is a car the makes you feel totally in control - do you like that? Or do you need more feedback, movements, noise and drama from the car and world around you?
Myself (53) I just bought a S8 2013 - after a Panamera Turbo and a M5. I just love the way the car rolls and handles - it`s so to the point - drive. Will take it to Nurburgring Germany 7.5.15 - will publish the lap, like I did with the Pana and the M5. Then I will learn what the car is really made of .., and since I`m old enough for an A8 (S8) I will try to cope with my own ego at the track.
