This, x 1,000,000.

I've drooled over the A8 for ten years now (I'm almost 50). The only reason I didn't get one for my first Audi is that I got a screaming deal on my Q5. As I already had done the "luxo-cruiser" thing before it (Infiniti Q45), I thought I'd give a crossover / mini-SUV a try.

It drives like a dream, and the D3 and beyond A8L drives like a much shorter car--nimble, powerful, luxurious. You can't go wrong with it.

Some say that the Q5 is a "chick's car"--I just think of it as a finely made, fun-to-drive Audi that fits my lifestyle now.

Some say the A8 is an "old man's car"--understand that unless folks are willing to pay for your car note, you drive what makes you feel good, and leave them to work out feeling secure in their age/manhood.

Yes, it's too young. Old guys like me like the exclusivity factor. If 40 year olds start buying everyone will have an A8 !
Get it and enjoy

At 41 I have been feeling a bit old lately, maybe it's the beginings of a mid-life crisis. Yesterday I went and looked at the new C63 and M3 because I thought maybe some fun factor, over luxury, may be in order. After getting back in my A8, all I could think was "God, I would look ridiculous sitting in the carpool lane in one of those."

The only problem with the A8 at 41, that I have found, is that it kinda ruins 95% of all other cars for me at such a young age. Without going full on exotic, it is hard to go up from here.

I was thinking the same thing. However there's Bentley and their upcoming models... German tech and quality with British style? Yes, please.

No one is too young (or old) for a great car!

I just (we're talking a few minutes ago) went for a ride in my friends A8 that he recently bought. The guy is 19(!). I don't even consider him to be too young. I just think he has good taste, and I know he likes big, luxurious and powerful cars so I think he did the right choice.

Btw, damn that thing really moves (it was the 4.2 I believe). Scary almost, at least when you're sitting in the passenger seat with no control over the vehicle. We did 0-250km/h really fast, thank god there was no traffic, since it's a sunday night and all.

If you want an A8, no matter what age you are... as Ferris Beuller would say; "If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

All the torque, without the penalty against fuel economy. Modern diesels are a far cry from the diesels of old. Personally, I'd prefer any of the diesel A8's over the gasoline powered 3.0t. That said, the 4.0t is my first choice.

Got my first D2 when I was 35, my D3 at 41.

It's funny to talk fuel economy of 100k euro car. How much euro are you going to save over the lifespan of the car, maybe 5k?

The diesel's max torque also comes with a price of a very narrow rpm range.

Considering 4.2 diesel vs. 3.0T of course I'd also take the diesel. However, those cost a very different price at the showroom.
