Seems to come down to how you set up your policy. I have three vehicles and my home rolled up into one policy, plus my S8 is not driven to work. In my late 50's with no accidents and (miraculously--thank you Audi invisi-shield LOL) no tickets. All that yields me a $600/6 month cost with a $500 deductible. For the Seattle area I think that is a pretty good rate and surprisingly it is less than the 2014 S6 I had prior to this car. I was really expecting a higher cost for the aluminum body work and 520 hp.

I still believe where the insured lives has the biggest impact. Of course a 18 year old insuring a new S8 would be incredibly expensive but with all things being equal this chart gives a good idea. I heard NJ was the highest in the nation but according to this 2016 rating its actually number 3. Washington is number 33...

Car insurance rates by state: Most and least expensive
Extremely misleading and understated. I can absolutely, positively guarantee that the rates within a state have to be broken down very finitely. As another poster noted, his insurance would be much less by moving just 35 miles but still within the same state. As I posted previously there are many factors that go into the final rates for auto insurance and while the state is certainly one, it is only a mid- level factor in the overall equation. Don't be surprised if your neighbor across the street or down the block, are paying lower or higher rates than you are for similar cars and/or coverages.

I am sure they average the rates across the state. I unfortunately live in a zip code that is probably one of the highest in the state due to being close to Newark where many cars are stolen and a higher percentage of uninsured drivers. Nobody is denying credit, age, multi car discounts, coverage options, etc play a role. As I mentioned, 35 miles south my insurance is about $1200 less per year. So yeah, I know exactly how much my zip code affects me because I can use the USAA insurance website and change my address for a instant quote. It's really nice actually. Love USAA.

Too many variables to make valid comparisons...(in no particular order):

Age of car
Age of insured
Other drivers in family (and ages)
Driving records
Accidents/claims history
Time with insurance company (loyalty discount)
Location
Multi-car discount
Other insurance with same company
Driver Ed discount
State regs
Type and amounts of policy coverages
Accident/deductible forgiveness
Deductible caps

Just to name a few.

I was very surprised coming from my Porsche Macan GTS that my rate went up over $400 every 6 months! In fact, the A8L is $300 more than my 2017 911 C4S! Now that one does not make sense.

I live in Easternmost Morris county of NJ - insurance rates are out of control -- Insure with NJ Manufacturers - $ 2653/yr for my 15 A8; 60 with no violations! My 17 Q7 is only $ 1300/yr
