Default Not a new problem

This problem drove me nuts with my D3. The 2012 D4 is much better but still has issues. Seems to quit when there is not enough peripheral activity for the logic to establish situation awareness. When I drive on wide, empty western roads, not many signs or other rf reflective objects is when I experience the most frequent failures.

My dealer and I have both talked with Audi, the best answers I get are (1) If in doubt, it is better to disengage. (2) The German software engineers have no concept of Manitoba prairie roads or driving.

I have this problem quite often and VCDS reports the following...

It took me ages to notice the warning triangle in the top left of the instrument cluster - when this isn't visible ACC will work properly.

See Audi's autonomous A7 prototype tested | Autocar for a story about the autonomous A7 they're working on - just imagine the problems arising from the 1% of the time it doesn't work properly!

Think I've mentioned this before on here but (somewhere, I think in the manual) it says this will happen from time to time without there being something wrong. The last year I've driven 30k kilometers and its maybe happened around 5 times. Only use it while on the highway and getting bored so maybe the ACC is on 1/4 to 1/3 rd of my mileage so far.

It's happened to me three times in the last 5k miles. Clear weather.

All times it has been after a couple of hours of using the system. The last time I noticed some significant power cables running over the motorway and wondered if it was down to some sort of interference. Maybe.

Each time I just switched off the cruise control and within a couple of minutes the warning triangle on the dash disappeared and all was back to normal. Checked for dirty sensors on return home and always clean.

Technology eh! Not always as it should be and will get interesting when we get these fully automated cars every one is banging on about from Google and the like. My last D3 was totally reliable from the mechanical point of view. When anything went wrong it was always a bloody sensor. It once refused to go over 5 mph due to a brake failure. I could tell there was nothing wrong with the brakes but "Computer said no". Dodgy rear calliper sensor was the fault. "That'll be a whole new calliper sir" at £500

Adam, do you still own that car ? If so did that error ever go away ? If so what was the remedy for it as this error has been driving me crazy too.

Default Getting this same "Address 13 - Fault 10240" indication

2012 - A7 Prestige w/32000 miles

Car was smacked by a rogue semi-tire chunk across the right front end at highway speed.
Prior to this, never an issue w/vehicle or vehicle technology.

Minor physical damage (10k of bodywork) but also triggered dash flags for lighting and ACC failure.

Dealer/bodywork repairs were completed, very satisfactorily in August.
Bodywork took only two days, parts-for-parts, etc.
Technology resolution took six days, they seemed to struggle with it, with apologies from the body shop manager.
Said they were challenged by resolving the lighting ballast issues, nothing mentioned about vision/ACC.

Got the car back and noticed that any previous VagCom modifications were completely wiped out.
It was as if they 'rebooted' the entire car and took it back to current base "as new" program.
I'm o.k. with that, I can redo the VagCom mods....

Five weeks and 500 miles later, I am getting the 'Address 13, Fault 10240' flag and 'Address 8, Sensor 12032'
Both specific to Automatic Distance, sub Incorrect Position.

I hope it's simply (need for correct) alignment of repaired vision components?
Car is going back in for re-application of clear bra on repaired parts in October 2019.
(had to wait a few months for paint to cure)

Dealer says they will reassess the vision issue at that time.

Anybody here have input on this?
Comments or thoughts on anything more specific I should be pressing dealer service on this issue?
