Default Aftermarket Service Contract

Team Audi -- I'm looking at purchasing an aftermarket service contract for my 2012 A8 for repair coverage after my CPO coverage expires. Living in Florida, the service contract prices are somewhat "regulated" thus limiting my opportunities to find a combination of a great service contract company along with a fair price. I'm planning on keeping the car for another 4+ years.

What kind of experience _(+/-) have you had with service contract companies and do you have any recommendations on where to buy along with the price that you've paid?

Many thanks--

I spent 4500 on my 3 yr/36000 mile extension to the factory warranty. I tried to use it on two occasions and both times the claim was denied due to minutia 20 pages into the contract of what was supposed to be an all inclusive warranty. I returned it and am awaiting my prorated refund.

Insurance companies are in business to make money, not to help you.

Yes, insurance is sometimes needed, but I've always hated betting that something bad will happen. I guess I'm too much of an optimist.

With the way these things depreciate, it takes quite the income to do that. I mentioned I resold my warranty, but what I didn't mention is that I put aside money each month for unexpected expenses. With the return of that warranty, that amount has gone up a bit. Being handy and having the appropriate manual means I can save a lot on repairs doing them myself. For me, it's worth the time to save the money. Different people's individual situation may vary.
