Default Anyone with 22" Wheels on their A8?

I am considering moving to a set of 22" wheels, but could use some real world advice on sizes, especially tire sizes.

Specs recommend a 30 series tire, specifically a 265/30/22 tire to ensure the overall diameter is within 3% of OEM diameter with a 20" wheel with a 265/40/20 tire.

I would prefer not to run such a low profile tire, and would prefer a 35 series tire. A 255/35/22 tire keeps the overall diameter within 3% of stock, but I have been warned of potential rubbing.

Anyone have any advice?

I'm not sure how a 22inch wheel would look, but that seems kind of big.

Would it look like this:

or would it need to be jacked up for them to fit like this:

You response is soooo helpful, thank you. But if anyone is interested in what 22's look like on an A8, here is an example:

Oh, okay. that isn't that bad. sorry about that.

Aren't large wheels like that trading away ride comfort for handling? is that worth it?

Looks good given the size of the wheel arch.

I'd be more concerned over wheel failure due to cracking a rim. Lets face facts. Our roads are falling apart and are unlikely to be back to 1970s spec ever. Too much finding via Santa Claus going to "other than road repair."

Agreed Mike. Even with my MTM 21's, I've had a couple of punctures that I wouldn't have had on the standard 20's.

I don't think the car would ride very well with wheels that large. The tire profile would be so low.

Severe risk of pothole damage, too.

I'm interested as well after seeing this one.

But if I can find some bleached out 20's or 21" that look as good, I'd go with those

22s will be fine if you do not live up north.
