Anyone install Remote Start on D4 A8?
Jealous of the people at the office who start their cars from the warmth of the office...downside of living in mid-west snow covered states. Thinking ahead to next winter.
Has anyone here installed an aftermarket remote start kit? Issues? Anything to be aware/afraid of?
thanks.

As far as I know, it's possible but there's no good way to do it. They have pretty strict laws about idling cars across the pond, and generally build cars to that standard. The big issue is that the car needs the signal from the key inside the car to start. If I recall, someone around here talked about a setup where they had the key hid somewhere in the car, and with that the remote start could work. I don't know if they had a solution to prevent someone from busting the window and driving off with it.
I'd like to be wrong on this one, though, if I'm honest. I'd looked previously, and I didn't like what I found. I didn't want to McGuyver a car like this.

Jack88- thanks for the response. Your explanation makes sense. I overlooked the "key in car" factor. makes sense and totally agree with rigging up something that may mess up other things on this very complicated car.
Thanks.
