Anyone owned an R8?
While this A8 is a nice car, it's just not me.
I am moving back to a true sports car, having owned Jags and Astons in the past.
However, I am also considering an R8 V10, was wondering if anyone could provide any info on ownership, driving experience, maintenance, etc.
Thanks

No, that's okay. I'm sure a couple people on here have had an R8. The previous owner of my old A8 had an R8, for example. The A8 offers great performance for a large sedan, but it will not match the performance experience of a dedicated sports car. If you're looking for a proper sports car, it depends on your budget.
The 911 comes in all sorts of trim levels, but a number of writers say the base model or the S make better driver's cars than the bonkers quick Turbo.
The R8 is the most livable supercar, providing world class performance on the track, while being perfectly docile and comfortable around town.
The V8 Jaguar F-type is a very capable performer, being very fun and exciting when driven spiritedly, with some compromise in terms of it's civility.
Any Aston Martin is going to be be very fast and capable, while being comfortable as well(the track editions not withstanding.) However, it doesn't excel at anything in particular from a dynamic standpoint. That said, there is nothing in my opinion as beautiful on the road as an Aston Martin. The Ian Callum penned design will go down in history as one of the all time greats, without question.
On the other end, is the Corvette Stingray. It's a polarizing design, often eschewed by those considering the others I've listed, but, especially in the Grand Sport trim, is a genuinely excellent performer in every regard while being completely civil on a day to day basis. What it lacks in panache it makes up for with it's dynamic qualities. It's relatively low cost of entry and maintenance makes it a compelling option.
But these are second hand observations of a genuine automotive enthusiast. It's good you're asking around, but take a few of your prospects out for a test drive and see if anything speaks to you.

Thanks for your replay.
I have owned Jaguar XKR's, XKR-S, and Aston Martin DBS. I am not a Porsche fan...just don't do it for me.
Ferrari is a possibility, although I have never owned one before.
I like that the R8 is high performance but can be used as a daily driver, which would be my aim.
My DBS was a daily driver, but I found out what it must be like for people that get approached by total strangers all the time.
Thanks for the feedback

It's hard to do better than the R8 for a daily driven top tier performance machine. You'd probably get a similar number of strangers approaching, although the R8 gives a different sense of occasion than the DBS. Bit of a hard act to follow, that DBS. There is a gentleman on here who has a Ferrari, he posts from time to time, his username is Absent.
