Thinking about it, can't really hurt I guess. It seems to only affect the 3.0L gasoline engines in the 2012 – 2016 Audi A6, A8, Q5, or Q7. Standard attorneys' fees are a third, which is normal. FWIW, my brother has a diesel Golf and VW is sending him a check for $20k and taking the car back. I highly doubt we'll have the same deal but figured, what the heck?

Technically, the cheat device results in lower gas mileage and of course the damage to the environment, which I don't really care about personally, though I should. The award isn't based on damages you receive personally but for the damage caused by stating the cars are "environmentally friendly" based on the engine and CO2 output.

The diesels are still getting the details of the deal worked out, I believe. The gas engines may not get nearly the payout, maybe a coupon, maybe compensation proportional to how much the economy figures were skewed.
