I had read a brief comment about that one but rejected it based on informed opinions I read at the same time.
My gut feeling is that one is a phony accusation.

Lawsuits are filed all the time. That's why ambulance chasing lawyers advertise on television. But lawsuits don't prove there is a genuine offense.
IF, that's a huge IF, AUDI didn't report emissions accurately how did that harm an AUDI owner?

I don't think it's about harming the Audi owner per se. The diesel lawsuit for instance, no one was actually "harmed", the cars still ran. The issue as I understand it is that Audi cheated the emissions tests, period. The cars didn't do what they were supposed to and people, some, bought the cars for that reason and were duped as was the government etc. Same issue with the gas engines, there is allegedly a cheat installed which can/could reduce emissions data and from what i understand, affect the actual gas mileage on the gas engine vehicles. This is just from what I read, I have no actual data or knowledge myself. If Audi wants to settle this and give me some money out of the deal, fine with me! If they want to buy my car back, as they did with my brother's VW Golf Diesel, great, I'll just go buy another A8.
