fd-warranty.com sells factory direct warranties, but remember that Audi won't sell an extended warranty for a car that falls out of factory warranty so you'll want it before 50K miles or four years.
I've also been dealing with an Infiniti dealer that provides Nissan QualityGuard+ Supreme warranties which are also well regarded. A 3/48 extension (three years, 48K additional miles) is around the same price as an Audi 3/36 extension (around $3500). Covers everything, even the factory GPS and stereo.
I'd lean towards the Audi warranty because I've been told that it also covers "convenience" items like the seat massagers (if so equipped), power shades, etc. But if someone tells me differently, then the two warranties are probably pretty interchangeable.
I'm definitely getting one of these two just because I don't want to pay huge goddamned repair bills on these beasts.

There is a guy in Syracuse who sells them at great prices.
His name escapes me but the Audi dealership is part of Burdick - just drove by a couple weeks ago.
Look on the D3 board.

Currently in Infiniti M and Qx56 both the current generations. I can get a real time altitude reading on both infiniti's. Test drove a 2011 A8L and did not find a reading of altitude on it, did I just miss this info option or is it not available? Also tell me more about APR chip, performance gain, cost etc. thanks

I've never seen an altitude readout on my car, but that's something I wouldn't be looking for anyway. Never heard of anyone discussing tuner chips on the 4.2 liter V8, since it's a normally aspirated engine and not turbocharged. A8 had the NA 4.2 V8 in 2011 and 2012; this V8 was replaced by the twin turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 beginning with the 2013 model year.
The GPS altitude is on the main Nav screen. Lower right corner. Here's from a D3 in metric, but it's definitely in my D4 (and in whatever unit you configure in the car, feet/meters/etc) as I was watching it on my 900 miles drive home from the dealer:

I've bought two Audi Pure Protection warranties from them. Best price I've found and great service.

Paid about $3200 for my Audi Pure Protection Platinum on my 2011 CPO bought last year from DFW Audi. I would had never gone without an extended warranty on a car as complicated as the A8. Even bought one for my wife's 2009 Rabbit. [Thankfully my wife is techno-phobic and refuses to drive my car :-) ].

Awesome that is what I wanted to see. If you have three GPS satelittes the altitude can be determined. I go to NM mountains up around 10000 feet above and like to see how high up various spots are. Im an engineer and like data....more data.
Thanks for the chip education. Sounds like I need to go with the 2012 4.0TT for this option. Can anyone refer me to information on cost and performance gain? If I read some posts correctly it adds around 100 HP and saw some times posted by someone that demonstrated incredible performance gain....if it wasnt for the S8 rather than the A8L.
Thanks all!
