Conti Silents from the RS6/RS7
Going to try a pair of these on the rears as mine are down to 2mm and 3 mm respectively.
Continental Tyres -ContiSilent?
The 285's are the same as the current Michelin Pilot SuperSports and about £5 more expensive (cheapest in the UK I found was £258 + fitting - dealer charges £7 I think per wheel).
I know I won't get the maximum noise reduction until I change the fronts, but as they are only a few weeks old, that'll have to weight.
I might also get a microphone out first and measure/record the profile on the laptop before/after and report back.

From what I saw on the Continental link, it appears that there are only two current availabilities for the Conti Silents....both limited to 30mm aspect ratio dimension. Not actually optimal for normal use on an A8. Even with the wider footprints that are shown (275 and 285mm), the sidewall height based on 30mm AR is severely limited, thus reducing ride comfort and probably the sound absorbing qualities of the tires---certainly versus a 40 or 45mm tire AR. Perhaps the dedicated A8 tire isn't yet listed. Also, I'm curious about how long term heat build up on the foam cushioning layer will/could affect tire performance, stability, and wear.
Also looks to be a real pain to repair, where a section of the foam liner needs to be cut out---affect on wheel/tire balance?; Compromising sound reduction capability? I'm probably off base in my concerns, but there they are.

Anything to report on the conti silents? I'm thinking of going there on my 13 s8 as the regularcontis are thunderous on coursely paved roads...quiet on smooth, but a lot of the roads here in oregon have course pavement

The dealer was really cool, they didn't even charge me to put them on. I love them :-)
Anyway, turns out one of the wheels is buckled, but they managed to get it sorted and balanced as it was on the back.
It's definitely quieter. You can see from the frequency analysis attached that it's about 3-5 db quieter! So with the fronts changed, we'll probably find it's significantly quieter.
Anyway, I recommend them so far!

Great news
That's great news, I may replace my current contis ...even tho they're new, came with the car....my 2013 s8 rides on 265/35/21s, so how harsh is the 30 series on bumps? Thanks
