I've the MTM 21inch rims, so 285R30 21's. They do a 275R35 21 from the RS7 too (fit on the S8 21 inch rims maybe ?). These are the only two sizes that I know of, although Pirelli are supposed to do something similar (but probably made out of silly putty in my previous experience). My rims are 10.5" wide, and I've finally a tiny bit of curb protection too :-)

Have a look here -

Cheap Tyres Discount Tyres Buy Tyres Online & Japanese Import Car Parts Spares Tuning Performance Servicing Accessories under cars tyres and 21inch, ContiSilent or PZero Noise control.

In terms of the measurements, the lower the db's. the better. So even though the frequencies are all there, they aren't as loud after the change i.e lower curve after compared to before.

On the dB scale to the right

Just to clarify the dB figures are minus hence the higher number the quieter, correct?

I persued quieter tyres for mine and ended up putting Goodyear F1's on which were around 4-5 dB less than the PZero's I had before, massive difference.

Yes, more -dB is less noise.

I'll most likely get the conti silent ones when my F1 are done.

The best bit was my daughter saying to me after a weekend of driving around that the car was definitely quieter in the back in terms of road noise.

Subjective, I know, but she made the effort to point it out to me (she's only 8).

I'm currently running PIRELLI 255/45R19Y P ZERO AO XL 255/45 R19 104 Y.

Has anyone tried the ContiSilents on an A8 with 19" rims?

Or perhaps I should tdi the Goodyear F1s?

I only pay £870 for 4 Pirellis, so not sure if Goodyear are value for money or the extra cost of the ContiSilent is worth it.

Any advice appreciated! :-)

Comparing new tires to older worn tires makes these comparisons somewhat less empirically sound IMO. I would expect virtually any new tire to be quieter than the tire it replaces with less tread, so any db measurement comparison is not really very accurate for the purpose of this thread. I suppose a new ContiSilent would be quieter compared to another brand's new tire, but wouldn't you have to do the comparison with different sets of new tires on the same car to really get a reading of a tire's sound deadening characteristics? Otherwise you would not have a true assessment of how quiet the tire would prove to be down the road when it has the same wear as the tire it is replacing. Or, conversely, make the comparison with a set of ContSilents that exhibit the same amount of wear as the existing tires currently on the vehicle. Just a thought.

I just pulled new conti sport contacts with 2000 miles off and replaced with conti silents, now available in 275/35/21; they are noticeably quieter; aside from going down to a smaller tire, this is the only option

I guess 2K miles is as close as you can get to a real life apples to apples comparison. 😊
