Yea. Just take it in and they'll replace the two valves. I'm still amazed that they wanted over $25 labor to remove one (1) highly accessible screw and pop a license plate bulb in. I'd be very surprised if It took more than 3 min. If I wasn't so shocked and perturbed , I'd be embarrassed and ashamed for them.
Good thing the recall was covered, otherwise I'm guessing $700 or more
I feel sorry for women with these higher end cars. I can only imagine how they're robbed and taken advantage of.
One dealer, bulb is $4.95, the closest to me is $5.28.

I took my A8 in for 80B8 and 80B9 recall notices I received from Audi. The dealer called me to say I need a coolant flush service because the coolant is dirty. The service will cost $200. So my question is don't they have to drain and refill the coolant anyway in order to replace the shut-off valves?
Please help answer this question as I don't want to pay $200 if I don't have to. Thanks

I have a 2011 A8 with 35k miles. Last week the check engine light came on the the car shut down. I had it towed to my dealer and the diagnosis was that a coolant valve had failed causing the coolant to leach through(inside the wire itself)the wiring and shorted out the ECU. A friend who had an independent repair shop told me this was a 'known issue' as the coolant valve was prone to failing.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?

Here is my shot at helping with this problem, note that the connector that fits on the solenoid has the sealing plugs left out which would allow any coolant to travel down the heat shrink tubing. I soldered the wires allowing the solder to creep beyond the insulation which would reduce any wick effect up to the original connector. The idea is to cable tie the drain part lower than the solenoid or connectors.

You do realize that you are replying to an 8+ year old post, right? The poster hasn't even been on the board for 4 years. He probably doesn't even have the car anymore.
.
That said, you might try adding information about your car, so anyone trying to help will have something to go on.
