What did you use to get the front number plate mounted to the side?

you can find those on amazon, can't recall the name. It's a bracket that screws into the front tow receptacle, behind the hidden plate.

I don't think the GTI one will work. I tried my friends mpunt from his GTI and the part that gets screwed onto the tow hook hole just sinks right in. Its either too short or too thin. Not sure if the A8 just has a thicker tow hook or what it is but this is the only D4 A8/S8 mount i found
