Default Exhaust (D4 4.0T A8L remove mid and rear mufflers)

Has anyone done anything to make the A8 sound...better/louder? I have a 2013 4.0T and was wondering if anyone has done something like a resonator delete or a straight pipe through muffler etc?

Yes - put it in S, and crack both sunroofs. Sounds amazing.

It is a luxury sedan not a sports car. Not sure you are going to find may who have done much to change the car in general.

You're right, probably not too many people.

Did not mean to be a smartass... but yeah, what Lazydog said.
There are a few around here who've done mods, but not many.

Give it time and that too will be different.
My want to talk to APR and see what they have to say.

No worries man, was not taken in smart *** way, you are right in saying majority of people don't do anything like this to the car.

Thanks, I will speak with them as well as I intend to get the ECU upgrade from them sometime in the near future

Ha, yeah, I'm the smartass who's changed lots of things :-)

Took out the rear silencers (mufflers), but as I've a 4.2 diesel, it just makes the sound deeper, not particularly louder. Good luck/

So not that anybody cares, but I took out both the rear and one of the middle mufflers and straight piped in their place, and the car sounds like a monster. I am in love with it, but at the same time I can definitely see that it is not for everyone, and probably not for 99% of the people who have this car. Thanks all for your responses!

I'd be interested to hear what that sounds like. Can you put an audio or video clip of your new setup on here?

I've seen this on eBay before , Audi A6 4G Upgrade-Set Motor Noise Developing V8 Active Sound Exhaust:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A6-4G...item3cde42162f

Or something cheaper : Universal Car Turbo Sound Whistler Muffler Exhaust Pipe Blow Off valve for 5 on ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-...item2ecaa56759

Here's a YouTube video of what it sounds like (with and without)

Not sure of what's invovled in installing it , cost is over 2k

I was surprised how nice the new 2015 A8 sounds, especially on start up. I have an E46 M3 and a 993 Porsche and the A8 sounds just fine in comparision- even a bit growly. In any case, for a luxury sedan I think its actually more than normal.

Can you link me to a video?

A buddy of mine has an e46, man that is a clean car!

I never figured out the porsche codes, I am assuming 993 is this current gen?

As I indicated, I thought my brand new A8 (45 miles ) sounded throaty. However, driving down the highway yesterday the car started to sound like a NASCAR...so I pulled over and called the dealer. Car was towed. Phone call later in day - "Sir, a clamp on the muffler came loose and caused the muffler to slide off the pipe. All fixed now."

Now my car is just like the rest, no growling! So what I was hearing originally is the muffler partially off the pipe !!

Amazing.....

yeah these things are insane sounding, but whats even more amazing is how good Audis sound proofing is. I was amazed at the difference.
