Being one that likes to change oil in a new engine sooner than later, my 2015 S8 should be getting back to me from the auto body shop (I hope) in the next few days.

I'm around 1200 miles and really want to do the first oil change before I make it out to 15k miles.

It just seems prudent incase there are metal shavings or other new engine build gunk in the oil.

I couldn't find any thoughts on this with my search, so I'd thought I ask you guys/gals? Thoughts?

Ravill, isn't the first service at 5k miles?

First change due at 5,000 according to my book and the car. Just got mine back from the dealer, and it was a no charge service for the S8.

Engine production technology this days lives very little to brake in. Most certainly no metal shavings and engine build gunk. Those factories are cleaner than most food processing plants. Besides that, Audi is very much interested in a proper maintenance, especially within warranty period. So just follow required schedule and everything will be fine.

You should get a service alert on your display when due. Yes, 5,000 miles for the 1st service.
