Going to Test Drive This Weekend

I did like the A6 3.0 TDI over the A6 3.0 supercharged I had for loaners. The torquier TDI felt like it wasn't working as hard in day to day manuevers, but I wouldn't say it was any faster or slower than the petrol engine. I'm sure the general comparison still applies in the A8.

The 2015 A8L 4.0T that I drove for a few weeks got 29.8MPG driving 82MPH on the freeway for 200 miles. Speed limit is 80MPH here, so I was almost legal.

Interesting, that's what I always got in my 4.2. I once got the computer to tell me 32.4mpg over a 600 mile trip, but I was being relatively economical(75mph the whole way.

I routinely take long trips and like to make good time so the MPG numbers sound great. We tend to have lower MPG around here as it's not very flat. Also I suspect either the A8 or S8 will get better MPG than any of my current vehicles.
At this point though I'm not really looking for MPG. I want a newer car I won't have to do much if any work on. Older cars are great and I enjoy working on them but I had a bad week a couple of weeks ago and ended up with 1 working vehicle and it has the passenger side bashed in from a deer(this happened in the same week). So i've decided to stop being such a cheapskate and pony up the money for a newer low mileage(40k or so) car. I just have to decide if i'm brave enough to spend S8 money or A8L money. I'll most likely settle on an A8L with a tune. Most likely I'll spend the next 6-12 months trying to find the car I want. I really want a blue car with Baleo Brown/Balsamic Brown Natural Fine Grain Ash Wood interior.

It's funny you mention that... I hear people say all the time "I set my cruise at 90MPH and just drive"... of course, they are in a Honda Accord, and the speedometer is off by at least 5MPH at that speed.
I usually set my cruise at 85MPH, which is usually around 82-83MPH. I need my last speeding ticket to fall off (going 110MPH in an 80) before I can risk another ticket. That's the problem with having a 17 year old teenage boy on your policy... even if I get the ticket, my rates go through the roof.

Those are both highly optioned cars. The S8 has B&O and night vision. The A8L may have been a car service car. It looks too nice to not have been made a Cpo. Check the car fax on that one very closely.
