Well, it's not as simple as it might seem - it appears it would take an entirely new MMI 5F module which is significantly more expensive than just updating the 3G modem. The 2016 C7, 2017 B9 and 2017 Q7 MKII, which support LTE, use a completely different MMI module and coding.

Just an FYI even with an AT&T sim I have zero signal. So it's a frequency issue not a T-Mobile issue. Anyone know part#s for the updated 5F module or even better for the LTE parts? I did some digging through ETKA but I'm not sure of my results.

Part #'s for the DIY crowd
Does anyone have the part numbers for the hardware required to upgrade our MMI 3G to use the new AT&T frequency?
I'd like to upgrade my 2011 A8 and I have a VAG as well as a love of fiddling with my car.
Thanks.

I'm still waiting on a final decision from AOA on what they are going to do. If they decide not to give me the upgrade I'll be looking to do it myself as well. Maybe someone who received the free upgrade could look at their paperwork and get us part numbers?
