Default New A8 owner previous A7 owner with 2 questions...

First one actually also applied to my A7 but I never asked..LOL...is there any way to inhibit that delayed wiper sweep when you use the washers?
Second, I sometimes return to my car to find the trunk open,
I'm guessing if I walk by the back of the car, the remote is activated.
Thanks for any input!

Inhibit how - make it longer/shorter, or off completely ?

Trunk should not open on it's own ever.
Either the button on the remote is being physically pushed, or the lever in the door is being pulled.

Or... since you don't have the year in your query or profile, it is possible the virtual pedal is being activated.
The vehicle won't lock with the trunk open, but the virtual pedal can activate if you have the remote close enough.

I have seen at least two D4 A8s in the parking lots at work with the trunks open. The vehicle owners were not in the vicinity but luckily there didnt appear to be anything of value in their trunks. Also, the parking area is gated so it limits the amount of foot traffic through the parking lot.

I wasn't sure why they were open at the time and left them alone but after reading this perhaps they were having the same issue as you.

It was a pretty common phenomena in the water cooled Porsches of a few years ago for individuals to experience unexpected opening of trunk etc. because of the button being inadvertently depressed while the key was in their pocket. That would be the first thing I would expect here. I know in the month I've had my S8 I set the alarm off while I was in the kitchen when I squatted down to get something out from under the sink.

It's a 2012 and I suspect that it's the virtual pedal, so question, can it be deactivated.
I didn't see that option after checking all the MMI menus.
As for the delayed wipe, I'd like to turn it completely.
Thanks...

I believe the Virtual Pedal only activates when you physically stand behind the car with the key in your pocket and swing your foot under the rear bumper sensor.

Possibly with VCDS.

Again possibly with VCDS, but I doubt it - it's likely in the firmware of the module, much like the single most hated question '3 blinks is too much/little'
You'll have to use the pulldown menus to check it since we have very very little documentation for D4 tweaks.
