Default New to Audi - Purchase Advise

Hello All,
I want to advise / pointers on the purchase of a 2012 A8L. I keep going back and forth between the 4.2 (2012) and 4.0 (2013) I know turbo..more HP yadda yadda...but from a cost perspective I think I found a great deal. I have located a 2012 A8L, 4.2, B&O, Night Vision, Lane Assist, White on Nougat Brown (my fav combo), around 29k miles (so does that mean i still get some of the 50k warranty?) Onle thing it doesnt have is the Sport package (20" rims diamond pattern seats etc) Its seems to be a good value at about $52k (sticker was $102K)

I have been researching A8's for a while and you dont see many on the pre-owned market with all these premium features (B&O / Night Vision etc) at this price point.

So your advise on what to look for / ask about (If i go for it, i would have to buy it and have it delivered to me since its like 500 miles away) Please let me know... need to convince the wife too!!!

Warranty is lesser of 4 years or 50,000 miles. So with low miles, delivery date on a 2012 is what matters. If an early one sold in fall 2011, it may have clocked out already. Or, may have somewhere up to about a year to go. Important swing issue here price wise on a 2012, plus piece of mind if you find something shortly after purchase.

Besides the motor change you know about, I think MY 2013 is when Audi Connect comes in--Google Earth, hotspot, etc. Also optional top view camera. Check specs on each if you care about that part of the electronics side.

I don't know older D4 prices, but for large Audis in general, expect they go to 50% of original list somewhere between year 3 and year 4. Easy to ballpark if you use various on line estimator sites. In next 18 months my experience is they will take a further big haircut--over and above already material annual depreciation percentage--as the D5 announce date approaches. Figure a lot of lease returns are probably not getting bought out now with a model later in its life, so used supply is likely also increasing. Common 3 or 4 year leases make them 2012's and 2013's currently. Typical Audi model life cycle dynamics (especially the larger A6's and A8's) as opposed to something that only applies to D4's narrowly.

That price point sounds about par to me. Nothing special, but not bad either. If the car is exactly what you are looking for, that's the important bit. The mileage is a bit on the low side, which is good. I thought Google came in the 2012 standard, optional in later 2011, but I could be wrong. I really like my car, but I don't have the B&O or the nightvision, which can be tricky to find. The massaging seats are without equal, by far my favorite feature. And I agree, white on nougat looks excellent.

As I've learned with BMWs, maybe not as bad with Audi, extended warranty is key. If you're not buying CPO, make sure you're covered. I'm looking at a 2013 A8 right now and it's CPO.
