New S8 in the stable, but MMI stuck on 2G
Just picked up a 2013 S8 on Thursday. Initial impressions are that this thing is amazing. Its replacing a 2006 M5 and the level of comfort, luxury, and power on demand just blows the M5 away.
One big question I have is regarding the MMI. I'm learning the MMI system and love the Google integration. However, I am constantly stuck on 2G, and cannot get the system to show 3G. What am I doing wrong? I am in the middle of Indianapolis so there's no doubt I have 3G service. Google services work fine, just slow with the 2G connection
MMI software version is P0609
APN is set to: m2m.t-mobile.com
Pic to prove it actually exists!

T-Mobile has changed the 3G frequencies in your neck of the woods and the new bands are not supported by the cellular radio in your 2013. There's a thread over in the A6 forum where you can learn all about it. Audi offers a hardware upgrade to affected owners to restore 3G service. This doesn't affect '14s and '15s, because they already came with an updated cellular radio. Once you have the updated radio, you can also use AT&T instead of T-Mobile. AT&T is faster.

I'm happy to use T-Mobile. I geto of service where I am most of the time. Also still have 9 months from the initial 3 year free service. Just want to get 3G service. Sounds like the hardware needs to be upgraded in the car due to T-Mobile changing their offerings. Luckily it's covered by AoA. I'll all get the newest version of MMI software which will be nice.
