Default New Summer Rubber

Time to start looking into a new set of all season tires. 255/45/19

Continental PureContacts look good to me at the moment. Pirelli P Zeros have worked well in the past.

These are for use in the summer half of the year, but I don't want summer tires; got caught one fall with summer rubber in ice and snow and am still traumatized by the experience.

Any opinions?

I take it Continental still doesn't make ContiSilents in the 255X19 size.

I currently use the all season Contis during the summer, and have been pleased with them. I use Vredestein snow tires during the winter. There aren't too many choices in this size and I am wondering if others here have used a plus size to the 255/45/19

If you're willing to go a little wider take a look at these ..... 275/40. If you want to go a little taller they also make a 275/45 version.

Thanks,

Any idea how those sizes would change speedometer calibration? Can one adjust that calibration?

The stock tire is 28.2 inches tall.

The 275/40 is 27.7 inches tall

The 275/45 is 28.7 inches tall.

So it looks like it's a half an inch either way, which is 2 percent. So.... a couple of mph either way (at 100 MPH).

Not sure about re-calibration. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of the car can help.
