I understand that luxury car buyers are not into modding their vehicles in general, but I would still like to know what mods are popular on the A8. Is there a sticky thread that lists them?

I added a dipstick and I'm breaking state law by not installing a front plate. Trunk liner, mudflaps, and clear bra/paint protection are on the list for the near future. Windows were already tinted when I bought it so I don't have to do that.

Others have changed wheels, lowered suspension, and added trunk lip spoilers. Of course there are ECU tunes etc. but most don't mess with them as they void the factory warranty.

So far, I have done the easy things:
1: Remove front license plate holder. Not needed in AZ.
2: Install dipstick.

Looking forward to some cool ideas. The engine is fast enough, so I am not going to mess with it.

Real mods aren't popular hear. Lowering via VCDS and tunes for the turbo cars are the only real mods anyone seems to bother with. Most everything else is very expensive, and of no benefit. Audi have these cars set very nice from the factory.

My windows were already tinted and had the passport 9500 nicely installed. I did get the trunk liner and used a cargo net I have passed down through atleast 6 cars from a '92 olds regency elite
I do have the mud flaps but haven't brought myself around to putting them on yet. Might start with just the back at some point. I just like the clean sleek factory look too much. I am experimenting with some REJEX paint sealer and soon some nano ceramic paint coating.

yep, not a lot of cosmetic mods for sure. If I had the money, and didn't care that it was a complete waste, I'd put the ILTEK (sp?) black grill on. Love that. I just added the rotor wheels from the S8 and changed out the lower rear bumper for the elongated tips of the facelifted D4, looks much better in my opinion. And removed the front plate, and promptly got a $60 ticket from the fine folks at the City of Chicago. Oh, and I added the sport pedals. Again, all useless mods but make me happy...

For those that added dipsticks, where did you get them from? I had a buddy performed an oil change and he apparently put too much engine oil and the warning light came on! I couldn't believe Audi manufactured the car without a dipstick!!!

Most modern Audi's do not have dipsticks. Look at recent posts for one about dipsticks.

Too much oil is worse than low. Go to dealer or auto parts and get a suction pump to get it out
