possible trade in
Hello to the board,
currently own a 2007 A8 with 97,000 miles. CPO to 100,000. Have the option of purchasing a 2013 w/the 3.0 6.
Would like to get some feedback about this move..Is there a big enough difference between these two cars?
the 2007 has been trouble free..should I just stick with it?
Thanks
Peter

You really need to get in the car and drive it for yourself to get a feel for the differences. Yes, there are differences, both large and small, but only you can decide if those are enough to make the change. My concern would be that, while I know these cars' engines and transmissions can go well beyond 100,000 miles, how many non-powertrain related issues that may/will likely materialize is an open question at that milage level.

I face a similar dilemma. I own a 2007 A8 with 73,000 miles which I have owned since new. I have test driven D4's three times, but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. But I also test drove a 997, and went that route for now. There was nothing wrong with the D4, but as I recall, you have to go with the optional leather in the D4 in order to match the D3 leather. That said, the D4 interior is really nice, as are the driving dynamics, but I lament the passing of the NA V8.
In my case, a couple of additional factors came into play: my D3 was ordered to my specs (NWB with sport option in a beautiful Night Blue) which I really like, and I am not putting as many miles on it as I used to. Plus I would have had to hire a food taster if I bought another new car for myself, so I bought my wife a Porsche Cayenne, which gives us a new large vehicle for trips.
It is possible that I will keep the D3 for a long time, as I feel that the potential maintenance costs are likely to be far less than the certain costs of a new D4. But at this point of my life, cost isn't the driving factor. As long as I feel good each and every time I walk up to my D3, I'll keep it. Mike.

Here is a review I did comparing my D3 (S8) to my D4 (A8L).
https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-...hs-d4-2866829/
The D3 S8 had the extended leather and carbon fiber and was the nicest quality interior I have had in a car. I do like the D4 better overall and don't regret the move to the D4.
I driven the D4 several times for a couple days at a time when my D3 was in for service. You really need to spend some time in the D4 to decide for yourself.

Appreciate everyones input..
Drove the d4 today..not convinced that there is a significance difference between the two cars.. Own the d3 outright..vs. monthly payment for the d4..
Thanks again

if u love your D3, like i did, drive a D4 with the 4.2 and 4.0T.
i had the 3.0T in an A7 and it was ok but not up to par
with the v8's smoothness. i stuck with a 4.2.
(cause i read quite a bit re lag issues in the 4.0T.)
i think it also pairs well with the 8 speed AT.
feels quicker than the D3 4.2 for sure.
