Default Remote window opening/closing

Hey guys,

Can you roll down your windows using your remote? I tried this on my car the other day when it was hot and I cannot do it. All of my previous cars post 2004 had this option.

You can do it, but it requires modification via VCDS. Please see the link in my signature for instructions.

If you don't have access to or wish to spend the $350 for VCDS, there are inexpensive alterntives that can change simple codes including allowing remote window and sunroof operation. I.e. Carista or OBDeleven. Do a searh.

No doubt, I've had mine through four Audis. But if all he wants to do is remote windows, the inexpensive alernatives might be all he needs.

I got the car in December so I haven't done anything to it really. I also don't want to mess up anything on the ECU. I am so surprised it didn't come standard. I think VW was the one who introduced the remote window opening function.

Some VAG cars work from the factory this way and some don't. VCDS or the other mentioned products can enable it. VCDS doesn't change anything with your ECU. It changes the coding in the other computers that control your car. Best practice is to make notes or take a screen shot of the original coding. That way if you change something and don't like it you can simply put it back the way it was.

Has to do w/ pinch protection (heads, arms, kids, pets trapped in window) when moving up. I think the auto up part of it may also disable pinch protection where the window reverses if it requires too much force.

Net a regulatory (and somewhat safety issue), and answer varies by market apparently. Thus car is capable of it, but as stated is programmed differently in various markets.
