If you mean the main serpentine belt, you do realize on a newer Audi motor it drives very little and it no longer the huge wrap around tons of pulleys like the older ones? Thus not really even serpentine any more. Because of start stop and fuel savings approaches, many things are gone from belt drive. No more belt driven water pump IIRC, no more power steering hydraulic pump, etc. A/C is also gear driven. I think it is pretty much down to the alternator.

We just bought a 2011 A8 4.2 from a recently widowed lady, her husband bought the car brand new and only drove it 35k miles. Pick it up tomorrow - can I bring it to an Audi dealer and buy the Audi-Care package for a vehicle that old?

We bought the car to replace my wife's 2003 A8L - which will now be used as our "when the kids are home" car...

Thanks
