Default Sirius/XM Missing from MMI!

Hi All,

Sorry for not introducing myself sooner. I had an A4 when I signed up around 4 yrs ago but never posted. Now I have a 2012 A8 4.2 LWB which I leased in August.

The car has been great thus far, coming from an '09 S550 I could not be happier with the way this car drives and all of the extra tech I did not have in the benz.

This morning when I got into the car, my Sirius/XM radio would not appear on the MMI. I ensured my account was up to date as I renewed for 2 yrs about 6 weeks ago. All I listen to is XM, so this is a bit of an inconvenience.

The MMI does not allow me to choose the XM "band" I just have AM and FM as options. I thought that even if I did not renew my plan I would at least have the preview stations, but no dice! I called Sirius they can not find my VIN # on their system which is extremely odd and then I called my dealer which just said they need to see the car.

Before I take my car to the dealer, has anyone experienced this problem before? I am hoping there is a simple fix that I do not know of. I have tried searching before this post, but it looks like members only had problems with certain stations missing, not the entire XM band.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sirius tracks your vehicle by ESN [radio serial #] not VIN - which should show up in your online account management.

The only thing I can think of is that there is something wrong with the Sirius SDAR receiver.
Are you seeing any DTC's on a VCDS (formerly VAG-COM) scan ?

Problem is I can't get the ESN as I can't access the Sirius menu. I am locked out and only see AM or FM options.

As for VCDS sorry I don't know what is but I guess it's not something I can do on my own? If your talking about the on board computer it does not show any errors.

VCDS is a diagnostic tool from Ross-Tech http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/index.html

You might try rebooting the MMI.
Cannot recall which button sequence it is, but it's in the manual.
Would look it up but on my way to a meeting....

To reboot your MMI (MY2012/13 MMI):

The buttons are "Menu+Control ****+top right function button"

Where are you located? I host regular meetups in the LA/OC area and am also hosting one in Las Vegas this weekend (after CES).

It was actually menu control **** and tone button.

Either way it didnt work. I guess it's gotta go to the shop. And I just had the 5k service last week.

All,

My dealer is taking care of this next week.

As for now I have a long road trip ahead of me! Can anyone advise where the USB input is located? I have an iphone 5 and would like to listen to my music via USB

My car came with the ipod integration, but only includes the 30 pin connector which is no good for me

You'll need one of these since there is no USB input without an apropos AMI cable.
Edit: And I don't think iPhone/iPod work over USB to AMI but not certain.

http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD...apter?fnode=45

The cable version of it is available at most BestBuy's from what I can see.

Not sure if it will play via BlueTooth or not.
MMI would always show my Android as an input, but never looked to see if it knows about the iPhone 5.
