Strange noise when Sun Roof open
I get this really annoying intermittent buzzing noise but only when the sun roof is open.
It sounds exactly like the ring tone of an over seas mobile call. Appears to be coming from the centre of the dash.
At first I though it might be something to do with the climate control and the fact the roof was open but I've switched all that of and it's still there.
It's definitely sounds like some electronically generated noise rather than vibration.
It could be something to do with the sensor not being quite right as to the opening position mechanism but it appears too intermittent for that. I can go for a few miles without it and then it randomly starts again
Any bright ideas ??

In the D3 the spoiler/wind deflector for the sunroof is motorized and I have read threads about noises coming when it is adjusting for the "optimum wind deflection" and sometimes screws up. I suspect this system is still in place for the D4 and may be what you are hearing. Search the D3 forum if there aren't posts about it here and it may give you some insight.

I asked thinking the same as saltyirishman and on my car the wind deflector changes position around 75km/h which when I was new to the car made me think something was wrong.

Yeah I almost had a fit when this first happened to me too.
My first thought was "What the hell is going on with this thing?"
I just got it and I was freaked out.
The mechanical wind diffuser is a good idea, but the noise is down right annoying.
