Highly doubtful. Mine does that on occasion with either the stock tires or the 275's, makes no difference. Seems to be a common theme with the 8.

I have one road that always shuts down my cruise 100% of the time as I go thru a certain area. Audi dealer told me that this happens every so often with the adaptive cruise on the 8. It will come back on line within 10-15 minutes usually.

That happens when the sensor is dirty, or covered in snow. It's not the tires.

The car comes from the factory with 275 or 265 in the D4 S8. The 275 actually makes the speedometer error better. The 265s being shorter make the speedometer read faster than the 275s.

I tested my 265s vs. gps garmin speed. 123km/hr is actually 120. 275s would be 121.5 km/hr reading for actual 120. 285s would be nearly perfect for speedo error. You always want the same diameter on all four corners though.

I used one inch taller tires on my 2010 S4 for three years with absolutely zero issues. It did make my speedo read 118 instead of actual 120.

The jack mode exits when driven faster than walking speed.

looking at Contis replacing Pirellis but the same size; tires are big already; any one have 19" wheels on a D4 chassis?? D3s had 19" usually -it should improve steering with less rubber, no?

my AO ContiSports have worn down to 4/32 in 12 months with only 14k miles on them.....275/35/21. Discount Tire was very shocked, as was I. They called Continental and since the tires aren't offered with a mileage warranty from the manufacturer they'd only offer 25% discount on a new set.

Discount Tire guy recommended looking at Michelin Super Sports in 285/35/21 size since they come with 30k mileage warranty from Michelin.

Anyone run these tires before? Any issues if I went up to 285 tires? Car is completely stock running on Audi 21" wheels.

Some do it anyway I guess, but 285 is not a manufacturer spec size for a 9" wheel, which is what you have if you are running the stock rims. 275 is the max for 9" in 35's. You can get a SuperSport in a 265, and indeed 265 was the alternate D4 size sometimes seen with the 21's. You can find those wheel width spec's if you drill down on a given tire and size on the TireRack site. Not saying buy there necessarily, but can be a handy reference.

Thanks for the input! Other consideration is I don't want to void my Extended Audi/Fidelity Warranty by running 285 tires which aren't factory sized for the AO 21" wheels. Not sure if I ran into any issues where I needed to use the warranty, if they'd point to the 285 tires as a reason to void coverage.

I'm also looking at changing tires - I have the P Zero's on my A8 265/40R20 adn they are noisy! -- anyone have any experience running the Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06 they are 275/40R20's? Also - the OP mentioned that Audi deal will mount them and balance. Did they express any concern with the tires not being AO in terms of warranty?

Over in Europe its more complicated than just the size, I am just about to change mine and trying to get the Conti silent did not work so I am back to the GoodYear F1, these are available in 265/40/20 with or without AO spec which stands for Audi Original. So if I want to stick to a AO spec'd tire I can only choose 265/40/20 and 3 tires, GoodYear F1 Assy and Continental SC3 and Pirelli PZero.

I've tried to get info on what is different between the AO spec and not but its proven difficult so far.

Don't you guys have AO spec'd tires in the US?
I run 285/50r20 dws06 conti's and all is well, she sitting on 10 inch Rotiforms, she is beautiful

.
Replying to an 8+ year old post... The guy has probably put three or four sets of tires on the car since then
.
Question: Is your car in "Raise" mode?

Been running 275s for 60k miles. No issues. Just put in kuhmo 275/40r20 solus ta91 for $175 each, been very happy so far.

I’ve always ran expensive tires but with the negative camber of the front tires on this car it cups front tires in 30k, so I’m trying these cheaper ones and I’ll change them twice in 50k. I hate loud tires….

After new tires and two wheel bearings the car is whisper quiet!
