Transmission Lag in drive from stop?
Is the sometimes Lag in transmission starting out in drive or slow Corning covered under fidelity gold plus warranty or is it nature of D4 audi's?
Doesn't seem as bad in sport mode.

I feel your pain. There are a few threads about this issue if you search. My dealer went as far as putting the transmission into re-adaptation. This changed the behavior for a while, but was not a permanent fix. My experience is it happens much less after full warm-up, and hasn't presented a safety issue on the highway because applying more pressure on the accelerator forces a lower gear.

Yep, a 'feature' of the D4s.
Different models have it to different extents, but a fairly common complaint. (Not sure i've heard about it in the Diesels 'though.)
As the previous poster said, lots of threads on here discussing / complaining / raging about it, but I haven't seen any consistent solution.
Sport mode (or equivalent personalized transmission setting) seems to help, as does bringing the car to a complete stop (long enough for the transmission software to select Neutral as the gear).
Short stops, or slow rolling followed by acceleration seem to 'bog down' the transmission and make the driver look bad....

I think I remember a thread about it. Kind of like a old Chrysler tranny? I can live with it along with the squeezing stabilizer bushing on drivers side when cold. Goes away after full warm up or 5-10 miles. It's under fidelity gold plus warranty till 2018, although haven't heard good things about. More of a selling point to buyer

I guess it's just there nature. I test drove a 2016 A7 and didn't care for the ride kept going back to the A8 Which I still love the ride & handling

I test drove an 2016 S6 a few weeks ago and experienced the lag. In fact, I commented to the salesman that the car must have been sitting for a long time because the engine was missing/stalling when given gas at low speed. This was an unexpected test drive, consequently I wasn't as familiar as I should have been with the lag issue. I had read about it in the past, but suspected the reports were a bit exaggerated; they weren't. What a disappointment.

I've never noticed it in wife's A5 Sline? It's a 2013.
I also didn't notice it in a test drive of a 2016 A7. Although most of test drive was on highway. I really like the looks of the A7 exterior. Just didn't care for the ride. Been looking at A8L's for 3 years and just kept coming back to them. It truly is my dream car. I won't sell it till I can't drive anymore.

I had a '13 A8L that had this problem severely and it really annoyed me. Both the '14 S8 I had and the '16 S8 that I currently have did/do not have this--I just don't understand why it can't be eliminated in the A8 4.0's since it's the same engine and transmission as the S8's with a different tune.
