Default Trick to kick-open/hands-free power trunk open

After one year of owning my 2015 S8 I finally figured out how to reliably open the trunk hands-free. This trunk opening feature was much easier to execute in my previous Mercedes but I believe I stumbled upon how to do it right every time:
<b><i>
Face the trunk and kick in-and-out at an angle, i.e., not directly in/out and not a sideways swipe but at a 45-degree angle to the back line of your car.
</i></b>
This way you avoid looking like an idiot kicking multiple times at your car and waiting for something to happen. :-)

I think the secret is how long you stand in place before placing your foot underneath the car. If I walk up and "kick" nothing happens. If I walk up and stand by the trunk for a count or two it works every time.

A straight single kick in the center perpendicular to the bumper works every time for me.

Here I am doing it on an A4, but it works the same on the A6, A7, A8, and Q7.

Does my 2013 A8L have this feature? I failed in my single try to get this to work...

It should. Don't give up after 1 try.

Yes I see the you tube, but would think there's another pressure switch ran off existing to under bumper. Wouldn't the owners manual mention this feature? I don't really like the idea of kicking my D4 or scuffing up my shoes. Easier to just use the remote fob IMO

You're kicking under it, not into it. Nothing touches your shoes or the car.
