Default VCDS setting to keep the screen down?

The car dash looks so much nicer with the screen down and I was thinking if there was a setting where it would not default into the up position every time you start the car, anyone know?

You should be able to press the screen button before you turn off the car and have it stay down next time you start up. Unfortunately, assuming you have a rear camera, the screen will extend as soon as you place the car in reverse.

I've not seen any post that even with a Vag-Com mod that provide a way to permanently leave the screen down.

And if anyone figures it out, I want mine to stay up all the time even when the car turns off to prevent breakage/failure of the MMI lifter unit.

I wonder if there was a fuse I could pull to keep it up? Anyone know?

I know if mine fails again it will get fixed to remain up all the time with some type of hidden bracket.

Doesn't really bother me honestly. But I do see the point that if you have to keep lowering it it could cause wear and tear on the mechanism.

I think there is a way to disable the back up camera from coming on automatically. I'd have to look, but I swear I came across it either in VCDS or the regular menu.

The only way to keep the screen down is to turn it off or push it down. As long as MMI is on at start up, it will pop up.

Not entirely correct. See post #3. Also, I wouldn't recommend "pushing it down". That's a good way to strip the drive gear.
