As a new owner of a 2013 S8, the shifter is "new" to me as to its actions. i've found it to be the hardest to find reverse more than park, in my experience so far...

Mine always goes right into park from drive with a firm forward motion of the lever and right into drive from park with a firm rearward motion of the lever. I do have to occasionally "hunt" for reverse when going from park or drive.

hell, when I park the car and open the door, the car shuts off completely. can't leave it running when I run into SBux in the winter without restarting the car.

Huh. That must be for the start/stop feature, to prevent you from forgetting the car is still on when the motor cuts out. Have you tried turning off the start/stop before getting out of the car?

Frybear, that is weird, because I know you have a 2013 A8 which I do as well but mine keeps running when I open up my door. I often keep the car running with the AC on when I have to quickly run into the house for something (or pick up my pre-ordered Starbucks) and I love that it keeps running. I wonder why some keep running and others shut off...?

But the warning buzzer is squawking every second unless you leave the key in the car!

You can disable that with VCDS. I know I did.

Who cares! The car is empty! My lonely boogers dropped on the carpet can listen to the annoying chime while they bask in air conditioning...

Any rumors that Audi will recall as well?

On the 2011 A8, if you open door at low speed , car will slam into park. Be careful not sure if action will damage transmission.
