Wishbone?

Wishbone?
Took my 2015 A8L in for 35000 mile service today. I mentioned that the car made a groaning noise when going over a speed bump in the parking lot. I asked them to check the sway bar links as well as the control arm bushings. The result was they wanted to change the wishbone on both sides of the front suspension. All under warranty. Any thoughts?

Wishbone may be another name for the upper control arms. Both together would be sort of two sides of a triangle or a wishbone if visualized from above or below. In some vehicles (and now decades old Audis) they are a single part where in the vernacular you might call it a wishbone. But that isn't common Audi terminology.
Just ask them to confirm, "By wishbones you mean the user control arms, is that correct?" And find out if it is bushings only, or full arms. Audi was doing these bushings only under warranty, but may have woken up that the labor to press the bushings out compared to their likely internal parts cost doesn't really make sense.

I get the same noise going over speed bumps and dips on the road. I'm curious, if you had it done yet, did it fix the noise? I checked all around my suspension as well as sway bar bushings and i could swear everything looks ok lol
Edit: my sway bar end links were also changed about 4k miles ago just before my warranty was up

Waiting for the parts to come in. I did reference sway bar links and control arms but was told it was not the same. They road tested the car with some sensors attached and came up with this. Will report back after the service. For the record, this dealership has been pretty responsive. Sometimes they need a push but ultimately they do the right thing. Hunt Valley Audi. Maryland

Right and left. I'll try and recreate the noise tomorrow when I drive over a speed bump.

FWIW, those are the lower rear control arms for both sides. Not a common one to replace at least on D3's; the lower arm bushings are much beefier than the upper arm bushings.

So, had the parts replaced under warranty and drove over some speed bumps. The same ones that produced the noise. No noise to report. Full disclosure, it's pouring here and I wonder if water might be reducing friction and potentially the noise. Will try again when it's dry but so far so good
