’95 Audi A6 Quattro slow clutch pedal return
We changed the master and slave clutch cylinders and the symptoms remain the same: The clutch continues to release fine when the pedal is pushed, but it suddenly began returning slowly, until it pops back at the top of it’s return travel. After changing the cylinders, we noted a “groaning” from the clutch area when the pedal is depressed or released.
1? Did we get a bad cylinder?
2? What’s the next likely cause? The pressure plate?
3? If the clutch needs to be changed, is the procedure of the S4 applicable? http://12v.org/urs/ClutchReplacement.pdf Or is there another better procedure?
Please note that RockAuto’s Beck-Arnley cylinders listed for the ’95 A6 do not fit; they are configured differently, and we returned them for the Sachs that match the originals.
