Check engine light on 1995 A6 2.8 non-quattro
Hi,
I have this check engine light on right now and i dont really know how to go about checking it. I have a obd2 scanner but the car doesnt have a hookup even though the manual says it should. Whats the cheapest route to check what it is? I looked at vag-com and $250 is steep for me.

No, mine is in a depression right on top of the console next to the e-brake handle and behind the cigarette lighter. It is below a plastic cover that pops up. There is no cloth to remove. See this:

Could also be that you don't have OBD-2. I'm reading some conflicting info about it. Could be this "2x2" connector referenced here:
