Death of an Ignition Switch
This one lasted 6 months, OEM part(4A0 905 848 B) from the dealer. There were no signs of external damage upon removal, but as you can see here, a piece of spring-retaining plastic has broken off internally.

Not just a german thing...
A coworker of mine was about to dump her honda cute-ute because it was out of warranty and would intermittently stall while driving down the road. Her mechanic was just throwing parts at it (new spark plug wires to fix the stalling, etc.) Based on my Audi experience I suggested the ignition switch. Sure enough, that was it. The big difference between Honda and Audi in this case is that Honda paid for it, on a ~10 year old car...

I'd much rather fight the ignition switch battle than the window regulator battle
and instrument cluster pox battle of the newer Audis.
