Default We love our 1994 100CS

We are in the process of resurrecting our 1994 100CS from the dead. We love this car! Worth every bit of the time, money, and effort.

Default Good luck

Let us know if you need any info or know-how. Just finishing a pretty substantial mechanical refurbishment on a 92 100CS wagon: Head-, oil-pan- oil-pump-, intake-, exhaust-gaskets, brake lines, timing belt, and taken the opportunity to refresh or refurbish all kinds of seals, shields, brackets, and tubing. Also replaced noisy heater/AC fan. Re-mounting exhaust now. Almost done.

Did you replace/repair any of the vacuum lines?

I broke the hard plastic tube for the brake vacuum assist that goes over the left valve cover during disassembly. As far as I can tell that part is impossible to find. So I made a sleeve of softer rubber tubing and secured it over the broken section with rings.

New lifters will take care of it. I rebuilt the heads on the old one I had. I dont have it anymore, but it was a noisy POS, and I took the heads off, new exhaust studs and gaskets, lapped the valves, new stem seals and new lifters. Was very very quiet, and oil consumption went from 1-2 quarts a week to a quart over a 6k miles synthetic oil change.

How often do the tensioner pads break on the timing chain? This car has 123k and I don't show them ever being changed on record.

No chain pads or anything on these engines. Just a timing belt. They are single cam 12 valves.
