Default Loss power or sputter at consistent speed

At idle or acceleration everything is fine but maintaining constant speed it feels like a misfire or hesitation. It is now my son's car and he tells me he can't maintain a constant speed because it bucks/misfires. He has to accelerate and then let up on gas and repeat. I don't see any faults and tried to look for misfires with Vagcom but don't see any place to do so. At idle seems okay as well as power braking. Any suggestions what I can check with Vagcom? It feels like a misfire, bad ignition cable or plug but no code. Cables aren't that old and look in good shape.

Thanks for any suggestions.

So, check engine light came on and a P1206 cylinder 2 error. Need to check into it but should I need an injector I am seeking info. Just replace one or buy a matched set and do all? See sets on ebay, anything to be concerned of?

Thanks in advance!

check the spark plugs first..replace them if any doubt. with new plugs if you find it is still running poorly, and maybe you have a bad injector. you can replace just one injector..but it is not recommended.

I would swap the #2 injector with say the injector for #3..and see if the fault code changes with that suspect injector

Keep in mind the #1 cylinder is passenger side rear on the 12v engines..weird. do a search for the firing order for our engines so you know exactly which cylinder is #2

Bentely shows 1,2 and 3 are on passenger side 1 at front, 2 middle and 3 is back. I hope this is correct.

The good news is that #2 would be in the same location.

Audi chaos about where is number 1 cylinder on our engine here:
