MAYDAY!!! My trunk is shut and wont open!!! How do I get it open if the button doesn't work?
So the story goes....
I replaced my trunk lid this weekend. I tried the locking mechanism out several times to make sure it was working properly before I closed the lid. Fine. But the locking mechanism wasn't working properly (wasn't arming alarm and locking all doors) so I switched the mechanisms from my original trunk to the new one thinking this was the problem (it ended up being corroded connectors which I fixed) The problem is that I dont' think I adjusted the new mechanism properly or if I did it came out of adjustment and now I cant open my trunk. It locks/unlocks the doors, but when I push the lock cylinder it doesn't release so that I can open the trunk.
I appreciate any help on this matter, I am sure I am not the only one who's had this problem. If so, I guess I'll have to improvise a way out.
Thanks,

Midget/kid thru the ski sock is the only way in...
without tearing up the trunk lid....but I'm not sure that's very safe, esp in warm temps, should the kid get stuck in the trunk.

This was my solution a few years ago...
The area circled is where you can grab one of the rods/links and manually trip the latch. I've subsequently done it to several cars at the junkyard and it's worked every time.

GOT IT!!!!!!
Apparently my glove box button worked. I didn't know that the car had to be running for it to work. I opened her up and she was out of adjustment. Fixed her up, works beautifully. Thank god for that little button.
