door handle trim

door handle trim
Can anybody refer me to a website that sells the black molding/trim for the door handles? I can find where to buy the "door handle gasket", but not the trim of sorts. It's the longer trim, the part that would be next to your thumb when opening, not your pinky. Any help would be appreciated.

No not those, I bought 4 new handles and it came with those. It's the molding/gasket that goes underneath both of the points where the door handle meets the body, but I specifically need the longer and skinnier one, the part that is closer to the thumb than the pinky.
Another question you may be able to answer, what is the lug nut size on the 4000cs quattro? My wheels have tuner lugs but I don't know what size.

Oh, okay. In that case, AutohausAZ has the gaskets.
The stock lug bolts are 14x1.5. If they have aftermarket lug nuts currently then it might be different. Just a friendly warning: if they're the stock ball seat wheels with conical seat lugs I'd change them ASAP. I've heard more than one instance of the whole wheel coming off with the wrong lugs.

I recently got an 87 4000CS and I think it needs a passenger front handle. What's the best one to buy and from where? Pretty much everything on the car is original so I'm going to restore it over time. I want to make sure I buy quality parts. Thanks.

I'd go for a brand name, like Meyle on the handles. Or for the same price of one Meyle you can buy three of the ones made in China. That's not so bad on the older VAG cars since they're easy to change (one screw and it's out), but for the 4000 it's too much of a pain for me to want to go through that more often than I have to.
Lots of the Meyle ones on eBay at the moment.

Yes, I don't think they changed the handles at all until the B3/200 models in fact. Those are easy to tell because they're flush and they lift up like a normal car instead of the trigger style.
