Default Alarm Going Off - 1990 Audi V8

Now, my cars alarm is wanting to occasionally go off in the middle of the night. ANy leads on what that is all about?

PS the alarm is the factory one.

Only experience I have with this was a loose alarm ground on back of Bose head unit after I had it out. If I had to guess I'd guess bad door switch/bad wire in drivers door harness. If you end up wanting alarm unit/door switch/etc, let me know, I've got 2-3 in a box somewhere....good luck, Tom

How good is the battery ? If it loses juice, at night being cold, the alarm could feel a drop in voltage and may interpret it as an open door or so. Other than that, I don't know if the v8 has hood and trunk sensors, my 5 series did the same thing, and it turned out it was the hood sensor going bad. Disconnected it, and problem dissapeared.
