Default Audi 5000 timing marks?

What do the timing marks on the Audi 5000 flywheel indicate? I seen the Zero (0) and the line (|) along with a bunch of dots • • • • • • •. I believe the Zero/Line is TDC but the other dots I'm guessing are to advance / retard the timing but how many degrees do each indicate?

See http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/troubl...g/eng.html#tim and scroll down a bit. I've not seen the dots you mention. Perhaps someone added those???

They're actually in the steel. It's not something someone could have punched in, perhaps if they where very meticulous and used a small drill bit? I believe it's OEM though.

What year is your 5000? I assume it's a non-turbo since the timing is fixed on the turbo cars?

Yes, timing it. I wanted to set it to around 15 BTDC or maybe less.

Possibly. They're about 1/2" apart. Any idea how many degrees that may indicate?
