Default Car taking multiple crank cycles to start.

Hello everyone. I have a 1986 Audi 5000 2.2 liter 5 cylinder non turbo automatic that I recently purchased. The problem with the car is that it takes multiple cranking cycles to start. The first cranking cycle, the engine will crank but not turn over. 2nd or 3rd time trying to crank, the engine will turn over and run rough for a few seconds then die. The 3rd or 4th time cranking will finally turn over the engine to the point where the car is running. Only if the car has been sitting multiple hours or more will this happen. Weird thing is if the car is is warm, I can go to the car 30 minutes later and it will fire up fine first try. I'm lost.

Check the ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor.

Default

Fuel pressure regulator is losing pressure as it sits, I'd bet.
